Today 70 teams from Crossfit gyms near and far will be competing in the 2014 Winter Shakedown. Crossfit RepScheme, located in Northridge, will be hosting the event. Intrepid will be sending 3 teams to represent our gym. Band of Intrepids is made up of Sean, Brian, Ruth, and Holley. The B-Sides consists of Jon A., Avelyne, Amanda, and myself. The third and final team, the Dream Team of Alternates, features Mike K., Josh, Anna, and Kathy. All of our teams are well rounded and compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
In usual Shakedown fashion every team will be participating in 3 different workouts. The first workout is The Danger Room. Teams will be given 15 minutes to find 1 rep max in the back squat (5 min), 2 rep max for snatch (5 min), and 3 rep max for cleans (5 min).
Band of Intrepids- 10:32am
The Juggernaut is the second WOD and will require a lot of communication. Teams must do 20 synchronized burpee plate pick ups, 50 feet synchronized overhead walking lunges, 12 rope climbs, 80 deadlifts, 40 head stand push ups, 12 muscle ups, 60 deadlifts, 30 handstand push ups, 12 muscle ups, 40 deadlifts, 20 handstand push ups, 12 muscle ups, and then back to synchronized burpees and walking lunges. From reading all that you can tell it will be a difficult/fun WOD.
Band of Intrepids- 3:11pm
Somewhere within the busy day each team will also have to complete a floater WOD. Cerebro will consist of 3 minutes on the air assault bike and 3 minutes of an AMRAP of 10 thrusters and 10 pull-ups twice through. Each team member will work for a total of 12 minutes. The advantage of the floater is that you can sign up for this WOD where it best fits in your team’s schedule.
