Goals: Compete in the CrossFit games, bench press her bodyweight, and get sexy shoulders
Alia started with us back in June hoping to improve her work capacity and finally pass her firefighter test. She had difficulty with the dummy drag portion of the test and we immediately thought we could help her get past her goat. Since then, Alia’s been one of Intrepid’s most dedicated athletes both in and out of the box. Besides pushing our other ladies out of their comfort zones with her workout performances, she’s the resident photographer (responsible for just about all the pictures you see on Facebook and this site), she’s a talented Paleo chef whipping up goodies on the regular, and has helped us work on the gym’s new logo (still a work in progress). She also selflessly stepped up and volunteered at the Aug NLP so our group of athletes could compete. It’s been tumultuous at times for Alia but her positive attitude and desire to be her best has helped her through those tough times. Alia’s a regular at the 6:30am class but says she is by no means a morning person and would sleep in to noon if she could. I’ve also been intrigued by her when she says she truly despises running and yet she has run 2 or 3 half-to-full marathons in the short time I’ve known her. I’ve had the honor to coach Alia in the mornings and witness her amazing progress first-hand! She’s starting to tap into her true potential and we’re hoping for another great year from her. Happy birthday Alia, we can’t thank you enough for all the ways you’ve helped Intrepid.
