Started CrossFit: 4 years ago, and was the OG of the Spectrum CrossFit crew before joining the ranks of CF Intrepid in June
Favorite Movements/Lifts: Plopping down on his coach and watching college football after a tough Saturday workout. Seriously though, Jason has mentioned to me on several occasions that he has enjoyed the Back Squat since the football days at Stanford University.
Favorite WODs: Says he likes all the workouts we do, even the ones he hates (notice the very diplomatic answer).
Least Favorite Movements/WODs: Anything with double unders or workouts where reps are taken away from him.
Accomplishments Jason is Proud of: Directly from Jason, “Each day I get a chance to cheer, watch, and compete with a great group of friendly and supportive CrossFitters whom I consider friends.” Perhaps it was everyone’s energy combined with Jason’s hard work that helped knock over 3 minutes of his most recent Fran time, but I think that’s something he can be proud of as well!
Fitness Goals: Continue to Improve
Jason is one of the most friendly and likable individuals at CF Intrepid. He can be found conversing with anyone in the gym, even during the lifts and workouts, and has helped recruit quite a few people to Intrepid. Jason’s friendliness is only surpassed by his modesty. Although he’s one of Intrepid’s top athletes he is quite camera shy (I had to dig through just about all our photos just to find the ones above) and actually would have preferred to remain anonymous on his birthday this year, but thought better of it as he didn’t want to tick off the programming gods. He also is quite competitive but still some of those pre-game butterflies from time to time like he used to experience at Stanford. Jason has become a mainstay at Intrepid and he continues to improve across the board in his lifts and his benchmark workouts. Aside from his vigilance and unique technique on spotting others’ bench presses and his infamy for breezing through warmups for lifts and jumping to heavy loads, Jason has established himself as part of the CFI family and we’re all better for it. Happy birthday Jason!
