Best CrossFit Accomplishment: 1st 5k ever!
I first met Tamme when I was training some co-workers for a fitness challenge over the summer. She was really apprehensive but came with a positive attitude and surprised even herself by squatting rather effortlessly well below parallel (a skill that we humans often unlearn from decades of sitting in chairs). She took to every movement she learned and saw each one as a means to achieve her fitness goal. I can honestly say she drank the Kool-Aid from the start. When she had a hard time learning the clean, she sought extra help every chance she could to improve them (even carrying notecards around to learn the progression!).
She soon became our PR rep, not only talking the talk, but physically showing everyone around her the effects of a good fitness program. It has truly been a joy to see how Tamme has embraced not only the fitness side but the nutrition aspect as well, finding empowerment in making good choices to achieve her health and wellness goals. Recently Tamme’s sister Ronda came to visit and I was so proud that Tamme got to show off her new found skills and strength.
Tamme’s sunny disposition is contagious, as is her courage and enthusiasm. Many people would have (and did) skipped class on the day a 5k is posted, but Tamme attacked her first ever 5k for our October Challenge and even came back for a second one at the end of the month. Outside of the gym, Tamme can be found reading, writing her novel, rescuing stray kitties, and nurturing her plants.
