Athlete Profile: Tina

Reminder: Classes will be cancelled tomorrow for the Gymnastics Seminar with Coach Duke.  If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here.  Kids and Running classes will still be in effect.

Today we celebrate Tina’s birthday.  If you haven’t met Tina, don’t worry, you can’t miss her.  She’s the one cheering for you even if you don’t know her.  She’s Intrepid’s very own one-woman cheer squad; yelling at the top of her lungs for you to push through that hard WOD even as she’s trying to complete her own reps.  Her genuine enthusiasm and joyful personality are unmatched, you can’t help but smile and laugh when she’s around.  We hope you have a fun and memorable birthday Tina!  Here are a few shout outs from your 7am weight lifting crew who have been missing you:

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, just like our birthday girl.
Tina was the first person I met when I joined Intrepid almost one year ago. She came up to me after my very first WOD and introduced herself. Maybe it was the threat of a burpee penalty, but I like to think it was her bubbly personality. Tina made me feel comfortable right away and gave me some pointers on using the rollers. Tina projects positive energy everywhere she goes and is a great cheerleader. You can always count on hearing her yell “You got this!” to fellow Intrepids during a difficult WOD. She also has a mean back squat :) 
Happy happy birthday Tina! We miss you at the gym and can’t wait for you to come back to the morning crew!

Oh Tina, you had me at the burp… Not burpees, but that time you walked up to me and burped. We laughed so hard but neither us were embarrassed! I thought, this is my girl! Sincere, happy and real! At the gym, you give your 100% and inspire me to do the same. Your mentality about Jerk is my favorite: “If you can clean it, you can jerk it!” You are my friend and a great training partner. I can’t wait for us to WOD together again! Although, we should probably cut down on “sis-reps”

Tina is always so positive and a hardcore cheerleader during WODs (I never thought I’d use the words “hardcore” and “cheerleader” in the same sentence, but Tina’s earned it).  Even when we’re not working out together, I can still hear her yelling, “Come on, girl!  You got it; get back up there!”  I love working out with her and it’s awesome to see her pushing herself, too.  If there’s anything that Tina loves more than being at the gym, it’s her family: She is so proud of her kids (rightly so) and a great mom and role model.  Happy Birthday and heal up, Tina!  We love you and miss you!

    Happy birthday Tina!! thanks for that motivation and drive that you share with everyone at the gym! Is always good to see you. BTW if anyone has issues with your calves Tina does some mean rolling lol 😉
