Basic Striking Seminar

We practice functional movements and skills every day in the gym.  Movements that build strength and maximize coordination to help lift heavy things, reduce injury in sports, and go about our daily lives with less physical effort.  However, knowing how to use your body to defend yourself is also highly functional and a skill that I feel everyone should have a basic knowledge of.

You may have noticed the recent addition to our warm up area or at least seen a few Intrepid (David) breaking it in for us.  We welcome you guys to use it, but as some of you may have guessed, there’s a proper way to hit/kick or you’ll suffer tweaked (or worse) wrists, fingers, shoulders, hips, knees, and back.  We’re gauging interest in a striking seminar to be held either on a Saturday or a Thursday.   We will cover proper form and how to generate maximum power when hitting the bag.  Post to comments if you’re interested.  Also if you have a martial arts background as well as experience teaching basic punches, elbows, and/or kicks, please email me if you want to help out.

 


Also we’re excited to announce we’re adding an 8:30am class Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning next Monday (10.15.13) as well as 8:00pm classes Mondays and Wednesdays starting the last week of October (10.28.31). Please check the schedule to sign in to those classes.
