In my last post, I spoke about the difference between eggs from the mass production farms and those of a chicken allowed to truly be “free range” and eat insects. I came across a new local farm that has seen these same problems and, to borrow from Gandhi, decided to be a part of the change they wanted to see in the world. Inspired by the likes of Joel Salatin (the “good” farmer from Food, Inc.) and Robb Wolf, they have based their farm around Paleo/Primal ideals.
It’s been exciting to watch as their operation has grown since I first took notice a few months ago. In fact, they just posted that they have acquired some egg laying chickens to increase their offerings. Currently, they have just broiler chickens that are available when grown. Because they are centrally located, they have partnered with a couple of CrossFit gyms as delivery spots and the nearest to us is in Long Beach. As you might imagine, the effort and time to grow these chickens is reflected in the price. I look forward to see how their operation grows, considering their overall plan:

Starting on 1 acre of pastureland, we are raising our free range, pasture pure, primal chickens in pure chicken bliss. We believe in giving them the opportunity to live in the true chickenry for which they were created.
