Huge congrats to Holley and Jake who won the August Challenge last week! For those of you who missed it, the challenge consisted of a max shoulder to overhead rep, 400m run, and Tabata(ish) wall ball shots. Both athletes crushed all three events decidedly. The challenge was a way to test your ability as an athlete in different ranges of fitness:
- strength and power
- muscular endurance
- mental fortitude (especially by round 4 of Tabata wall ball shots)
The September Challenge will be a bit different from our other challenges. It will be a Scavenger Hunt through the city of El Segundo, beginning and ending at the gym. Without revealing the details, just know that the entire event will take place on a Saturday this month. Each team (of 2-3) will need to bring a camera and a printed map of downtown El Segundo (we can provide that if necessary). The format will be more like a photo scavenger hunt than an urban dare with clues stashed around the city. Details to follow!
The winning team will receive a 50% off their next month’s membership.

A double birthday shout out to Intrepids Troy and Mark (M^2)!
Troy joined us earlier this year and has seen great results in his water skiing already, with a PR on his first big race post-CrossFit. His reputation precedes him as the burpee king as well as one who is impervious to wall balls!
Mark has had quite a PR year already, with his wedding this last June as well as a perfect honeymoon to Europe. He’s also joined a new Ultimate Frisbee team this fall with aspirations of competing at the national and world levels!
