Huge congrats to everyone who lifted yesterday. It takes some cajones to step onto a platform and lift with tons of eyes watching you. We are so incredibly proud of you guys for stepping up and not only hitting 5-6 out of 6 of the lifts, but PR’ing as well under pressure! I’m also proud to say we supplied 4 out of the 9 women that competed! Way to represent! Thanks also to the Intrepids (Xuan, Nick, Marcus, and Alia) who came out to support, cheer, film, and photograph. Check out the pictures Alia took.
Without further adieu, here are the lift results (meet results will follow):
Holley: 58k Class, came out blazing, got 5/6 of her lifts and PR’d her snatch at her very first meet.
Stephanie: 63k Class, also at her first meet, discovered that she’s so strong she can power snatch her previous snatch PR and lifted 6/6 of her lifts!
Avelyne: 63k Class, nailed 4/6 of her lifts even though she had a tough training week and not much rest (ahem).
Ruth: 63k Class, learned a tough lesson in jerk lock-out, but got her second meet out of the way (4/6) and had a blast.
Total: 134 (PR)
Mike: 69k Class, got 5/6 out of his lifts in his first meet, and got them so easily that he knew he could do way more.
Snatch: 47- 49F-49
Sean: 94k Class, got 5/6 of his lifts, closing out the meet with some serious Son of Zeus weights.
Total: 212 (PR)
Big thanks to Steve Serrano of CrossFit Marina for hosting their first meet, and for Pat Cullen-Carroll for supplying the weights and judging. Hopefully it will be our turn one day to host a meet. In the meantime, keep up the great work and hopefully we’ll get more to step onto the platform for the next meet on January 22 in Monrovia. Stay tuned for details!
Last but not least, a huge thanks and happy belated birthday to Aileen, who not only provided the meet with a much needed barbell, but spent most of her birthday as a referee and bar loader. It’s not a surprise, though, if you know Aileen, who’s heart is even bigger than her Oly total (if you can believe it)!
