Intrepid Farewell: Elisa

By admin | In Athlete Profiles | on September 3, 2012

Take care, Elisa! Come back and visit!

Today we say farewell to Elisa, whose career has taken her across the country to new endeavors. Mike K., her roomie and the one who brought her to us, was kind enough to write a guest post to send her off:

Elisa joined Crossfit Intrepid last December where she quickly established a nice baseline of abilities, began to make “CrossFit friends,” and became a regular 6pm’er. Looking back to when she first started and where she is now, it’s awesome to see her inner athlete peeking through. Elisa has been consistently improving and accomplishing her goals, as well as overcoming her goats (like the Prowler). She even gets the evil eye from Sean sometimes when she asks what she and Adriana (CFI BFFs) are going to do for reps.

Something you may not know about Elisa . . . she loves baking! Although her brownies are not paleo (and she would never make me any that were paleo), they’re amazing. They’re so good that I’ve actually asked her to stop making them when I’m home (because I would eat them ALL!!).

I’m so happy to see Elisa off on her journey to the Big Apple. She has found the job she deserves and she gets to move back to an exciting city that she once called home. I just hope she finds a quality box like Intrepid, where she can make new CrossFit friends.

Last thing, I’d like to leave you with some of Elisa’s favorite quotes…

• Do you like my Lulu’s?
• Wonder if that guy Crossfits?
• Does anybody have a hairband?
• Crossfit doesn’t make you bulky.
• What?? It’s my cheat meal!
• Guys, I really want a workout named after me.

Some of these quotes may sound familiar to you. If they don’t, watch this video (one of Elisa’s favorites).

WOD 09.03.12

3 Person Teams
“Pick Your Poison”
Row 2k or Airdyne 3.5k/2.2mi*
100 Burpees or 65 Squat Cleans (Grace weight)**
90 Pull Ups or 90 Shoulder to Overhead (Fran weight)**

Before the WOD, as a team, select one movement from each row. Complete reps as a team. One team member at each station, even if all other movements are completed. Any team member can call “Rotate” but all team members must rotate to the next station.

*There are only two Airdynes so first come first served. The silver Airdyne uses miles while the beige one uses km.
**One bar per team. Can use different weights but must switch during rotation.
(example: One team may choose to do Row, Burpees, Shoulder to Overhead. No switching movements once the clock starts)

Sad you are no longer MK’s roomie. Wear your lulus (and Torys) with pride in NYC! The Black Box Crossfit NYC is nice. All levels of classes. Check ’em out.

Elisa! I still remember your first day in the gym when you came in! You have always had such an enthusiastic and positive energy and it’s been a joy to see you progress in your training. You have such a big heart and I know you’ll find another CrossFit home out there! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

Good Luck Elisa!!! I will continue to share this story with all of the newbie girls still deciding if they like our box:

One of your first days in the gym, I told you “just wait, soon enough you will love this place so much you never go to happy hour”. You looked at me like I was insane.

Two months later I walk into the gym, you jump up from the ground post wod run over to me saying “Anna, you’re right, I HATE happy hour now!”

We will miss your always cheery attitude!

So sad to see you go Elisa!!! Your smile and cheery attitude at the 6p class was contagious! You made great progress while you were here and I look forward to hearing about your continued accomplishments wherever you end up. Congrats on the job and good luck to you in the Big Apple! :)
