The day is finally upon us, the CrossFit season officially starts today! At 5p today, Dave Castro will announce Open WOD 14.1 at CrossFit North Atlanta, and then Marcus Hendren and Garrett Fischer will go head to head live and set the bar for us all. One year we started with 7 min of snatches, one year we had 7 min of burpees, then we got burpees and snatches put together…any predictions for what Dave Castro will throw at us first?
For those of you who follow the Games athletes, there were some interesting region shifts this year, and two in particular stick out. One, Andrea Ager moved back to Colorado where she grew up, so she will now be competing in the South West region. Two, Dan Bailey moved to So Cal! That’s right, Josh Bridges will have some serious competition this year, so our regional competition will be a great one to watch.
I mentioned this last week, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to watch the new CrossFit documentary yet, I highly recommend it. It’s only about 30 minutes long and it will certainly get you excited and motivated for the start of the 2014 Games season. The documentary is about how CrossFit has been made to be a true test of fitness, how it has evolved over the last few years and what it has the opportunity to become in the future. Click here for some motivation.
This would be a great week to check out Amanda’s restorative yoga class at 7p today and prepare you body for 14.1!
Also, be sure to check out Alia’s workshop and learn how to make Bulletproof coffee with ghee.
Today we wish Tom R. (aka Tom Foolery or Booty) a very happy birthday! Tom R has been a member of Intrepid for a long time, and you’ll often see him with a smile on his face in the 4 or 5p class. In 2012, Tom spent some time overseas serving our country, but still found time to read and comment on our posts, remaining a beloved member of the gym in spirit. Hope you’re celebrating today with some Glenlivet 18!
