We are officially one week out from the start of the 2014 CrossFit Games season, so I’ll get in one last plug in case you all stop reading after this paragraph. This week is your last opportunity to sign up for the Open. We will be doing the WODs each week anyway, so if you want to give it a try, sign up here, we’d love to have you on the Intrepid team!
On Thursday Feb 27th at 5p PT, Open WOD 14.1 will be announced by Dave Castro at CrossFit North Atlanta. Just like last year, Dave will announce the Open WOD for the week, and two Games level athletes will go head to head on the spot and complete the WOD. While they haven’t yet announced which athletes will go head to head each week, they did announce the venues.
The last week, March 27th is at a large venue that can hold 4,000 people. They will be selling tickets to that event since it usually hosts the top athletes in the Games. All of the live events will be available for viewing at the Games wesbsite: games.crossfit.com. I love this time of year, where we all sit anxiously in front of our computers at 5p to see what “fun” Dave has come up with for us this year. What do you think we’ll see? More burpees and snatches to start off the 5 weeks? Another round of Karen + dubs and muscle ups? Will it be the motivation you need to get your very first muscle up?
Also worth noting, CrossFit is releasing their second documentary ever that’s 29 minutes long and covers what goes into making the Games a true test of the Fittest on Earth. The documentary is titled The Test of Fitness and you can read about it here. It will premiere this evening on the Games site at 5p PT.
