Back in October, I spoke about the Nutrition Challenge we would have for the new year. Today I’m happy to share with you more specifics on the when and what to expect, as we are just a little over a month away.
The official start date will be Monday, February 25th and the Body Fat Test truck will be parked out in front of Intrepid from 7am until 7pm. We will start scheduling appointments within a couple of weeks.
If for some reason you will not be able to make that date, check their calendar (linked above) and look for other scheduled visits within one week of our challenge start. Brian from Body Fat Test has told me that he will honor Intrepid contestants at his other truck within a week of our date. Any further outside of that and you will be out of luck. It will be your responsibility to schedule with the other location if you will be going that route.
The entry fee will be $80 which will cover both your initial test, your retest and the contest entry.
The challenge starts with a dunk and will also end with a dunk, 12 weeks later. I am aiming for the week of May 20th for our finish, but this will depend on final scheduling with Brian. As you can see, the challenge starts after Super Bowl Sunday and finishes before Memorial Day, so there are fewer excuses to go off the nutritional deep end in that time.
Nutrition-wise, we are recommending you start off with a Whole30 and use the 60 days after to reintroduce foods to find what may be holding you back. Because I know some of you find the Whole30 daunting and may have questions about what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat, etc. I will be holding one (or possibly more) nutrition talks at the gym. These talks will not cost you anything beyond your challenge entry fee. The most likely times for these talks will be Thursday evening or Saturday, please comment with your preference so I can get a date nailed down.
Now even though I said we recommend a Whole30, that is not required. If you want to follow another diet plan, or even some kooky juice fast you saw in an informercial, have at it. I can’t promise not to laugh at you, but it’s your money!
There will be workouts in the beginning that will be repeated again 12 weeks later to assess your improvements. We will attempt to work with you if your schedule keeps you away during the test days, within reason.
Lastly, your goal can be one of three things: fat loss, muscle gain or improving your performance. If you’re wondering why not more than one, please refer to my post Jack of All Trades.
Prize packages and total number of winners are to be determined, based on total entrants as well as which category they choose to enter.
