Randy Simmons CF Challenge Wrap Up

By avelyne | In Competition, Rest Day | on October 21, 2012

It was an exciting day for 2 teams of Intrepids Saturday morning as they competed at the Randy Simmons CF Challenge held at the Los Angeles Police Academy.  Shortly after arriving at the Academy, the teams were told they could take the next open slot at 8:45 or wait till 11:30.  After a quick consensus, the women’s team took that first slot while the men’s team got stuck waiting around for a few hours to compete.  Needless to say, a bit of confusion on the call times.  The women’s team had just enough time to throw their tanks on and jump on a rower to start the WOD.  The WOD consisted of the following:

AMRAP 7min

First 3min – row for calories

next 2min – max reps box jumps

last 2min – max reps shoulder to overhead (45#/25# dumbbells)

REST 5min

AMRAP 7min

50 burpee buy in per person

20 overhead walking lunges (45#/25# plate)

20 jumping squats

Each team member completed the WOD and the total cals/reps per person were added to get the team total.  Despite hitting the WOD cold, the women’s team did a fantastic job taking 7th place in the open division that consisted of all men’s and co-ed teams!  Michelle, living up to her name Wodkilla, nearly placed 3rd out of all the women competitors.  The men’s team scored even higher and took 3rd place even though they had to wait nearly 3 hours to compete!  Overall, everyone had a fun time competing and both teams represented CF Intrepid well.  Nicely done teams!
