Today is Coach Holley’s birthday and several of her 6pm athletes wanted to send her a very happy birthday message:
Holley is the sweetest & most patient coach. She has an incredible talent for explaining what I’m doing wrong- which is often! She challenges me and pushes me to my limit, but never over it. I appreciate her so much. Happy Birthday, Holley!-Adriana
What I appreciate most about Holley is her patience and example. I am grateful for the time she takes to (repeatedly) correct my form and to affirm my progress when I (finally) get it right. Her example motivates me to give my all in my workouts and in the lifestyle choices I make outside the gym. Thanks, Holley, for giving us your best and bringing out the best in us!
The list is endless on the movements that Holley has helped me with. She does it every time with a smile on her face. Thanks for all you have done to help me improve as an athlete. You are a great coach/friend. Happy Birthday!
I figured most people would post about their in-gym coaching breakthroughs with Holley, so I decided to share some “coaching” moments that have occurred outside the gym:
Happy last birthday as a Dickmeyer!!! So excited for what this year has in store for you!
Since I started at Intrepid you have always been there with guidance and encouragement and when there is that little devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear doubt you smile and say ” I know you can do it”. Recently I have had some challenges and after some attempts and graceful failures you were there smiling and encouraging, in the end you were right I CAN!! Thank you Holley, I hope you have an amazing birthday!
Holley is a huge motivator. She’s always putting in all her effort. There is no sand bagging when competing with this girl. One of my favorite moments was when I picked up a purple kettlebell for a metcon. I then saw Holley pick up a green kettlebell, and I knew I needed to step up.
If I can add one more fond memory, it would be after a metcon when Jake, Nick, and I took off our shirts. Holley did the same, and we all immediately put ours back on.
I’m now pestering her for fat intake secrets so I can soon be HolleyFit
Obviously I have a biased opinion about Holley, but….
Holley has grown a lot as a coach and athlete. When we first met she was a quiet spoken, mid-west girl who was quite shy. Now she commands one of the largest classes of the day and does so with ease. She has really found her passion in coaching and it is exciting to watch her get better at it every day (even though I take ALL the credit for introducing her to CrossFit to begin with). Let’s also not forget her best accomplishment over the past year: saying yes :). Happy Birthday love!
