Today’s post is courtesy of Jake’s girlfriend, Ashley (a proud CF Intrepid newbie).
Jacob has been doing CrossFit for almost as long as we have been together, about 4 years now. I remember when he first started and he tried to explain what CrossFit was all about, showing me pictures and videos every day. I remember how he would tell me about the people and how nice and supportive every person was. Although I did not understand most of the things he was talking about, I knew it made him happy.
So since I have not been doing CrossFit for that long I thought I would share some things that you may not know about Jacob outside of the gym. He is one of nine brothers and sisters including steps, and he has eight nieces and nephews. Jacob comes from a very competitive and athletic family. He has played soccer since the age of five. He ran cross country and track throughout high school and college. He specialized in the 5k event. As you have probably seen Jacob can run for days and loves it, but what is ironic is that he didn’t learn to tie his shoes til the age of seven.
As you know Jacob has been coaching CrossFit for the past two years, but he also coaches the Redondo Union High School women’s soccer team for the past five years. Coaching is his passion, I think it’s his sense of humor and just the happiness he gets from helping others succeed that makes him such a good coach. He also teaches a CrossFit type class at his job at Northrop Grumman. Working out and coaching makes him so happy, he hopes to make it his career someday.
Jacob is the most positive and friendliest person I have ever met, he is always smiling and trying to make other people laugh and that is what I love about him the most. He is very motivated and puts his whole heart in everything that he does. I am so happy that he got me into CrossFit with him I hope we can both be a part of the Intrepid family together for a very long time! Happy Birthday Jacob I am so proud of you and all your accomplishments at the gym and outside of the gym, I know there is so much more to come. I love you very much!
