This weekend there was a UFC Expo taking place in Houston, featuring a team CrossFit competition. It was a two-day competition with teams of two and several Games competitors teamed up for the event. The top male and female teams in the competition include Kristin Clever/Katie Hogan, Lindsey Smith/Becca Voigt, Matt Chan/Chris Spealler, Josh Bridges/Mikko Salo and Froning/Hunsucker.
There were 6 events that took place over two days. The first day consisted of an alternating chipper workout, a team Jackie, and alternating sandbag person carry (yes, the sandbags were shaped like people) and toes to bar. The three events on the second day included another chipper with sprints, fat-bar deadlifts, sit ups and push ups, two AMRAPs of bar muscle ups and ground to overheads, and the final event was quite interesting with high rep ring dips, squat snatch, rowing while the other person held weight at the top of a deadlift and weighted lunges.
I have watched several videos myself and it was really neat to watch the Games competitors work as a team and demolish the workouts. Many of the workouts are posted on the CrossFit Games Facebook page as well as on the CrossFit Games website. As CrossFit gains popularity there will probably be more events like this one where we can watch the fittest on earth compete. It’s certainly fun to watch, especially competitions like this where in teams, weaknesses go out the window.
