Urban Paleo Forager: Rustic Canyon

By avelyne | In Rest Day | on May 29, 2011

In a previous post, Ruth had talked about the benefits of sustainable farming and why it’s not only better for our bodies but also for our environment.  At Rustic Canyon, they practice what we’ve preached.   Located in a small space along Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica is a delightful restaurant (and wine bar…there, I said it) whose dishes contain local ingredients from farmers, ranchers and fisherman that practice sustainable agriculture.  Their menu changes often to reflect the current season’s produce to offer the freshest ingredients possible.

Their menu offers plenty of Paleo to Paleo-ish items and most are tapas type plates that are perfect for sharing.  Additionally, I didn’t try it this time around but I’ve heard they have a killer burger which made a Top 10 List for Los Angeles.  Reservations are a must as the restaurant is fairly small but don’t let that stop you from foraging responsibly.
